HempsteadWorks Staff Participates in OPERATION LIVE UNITEDSupporting Military Families on Long IslandMembers of the HempsteadWorks staff participated in OPERATION LIVE UNITED, an initiative of United Way of Long Island. Under the initiative, United Way invited Long Islanders to salute the men and women who fight for our freedom, and their loved ones who encourage their journey, by making a monetary contribution and wearing a LIVE UNITED tee shirt on Flag Day, Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Funds from this campaign will be used to help provide emergency financial assistance, employment/job training, and mental health counseling to returning military personnel. Proceeds from Operation Live United will benefit United Way’s Military Family Assistance Project. In partnership with local agencies, United Way is supporting programs that provide military personnel who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan with emergency financial aid, counseling/case management help and job training/employment assistance. HempsteadWorks also supports military veterans with counseling services available at the HempsteadWorks Career Center.
