CWS 1

DEVELOPING A FOCUSED RESUME, DYNAMIC COVER LETTERS

AND THANK YOU LETTERS

A well-prepared resume and well-written cover letter are the cornerstones of a successful job search. This workshop will provide hands-on experience in the development and construction of an effective business resume and cover letter. A step-by-step process that analyzes and explains what to include and why (and what not to include, and why) and moves toward the completion of the finished product. Each customer will leave the workshop with a resume in draft, as well as sample cover and thank you letters to use in his/her own job search.

DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE INTERVIEWING SKILLS

This workshop enables the customer to undergo a real job interview with poise and assurance. UNDERSTANDING THE NEW LABOR MARKET AND THE MODERN WORKPLACE

&

THE HI-TECH JOB SEARCH

This workshop reviews the radical changes in the labor market and the workplace over the past ten to fifteen years and how these changes affect job search activities. Customers will gain an understanding of the new landscape, and the nature of the demands and challenges it presents, as well as how to meet these new demands, accept the different challenges, and compete effectively in this arena.

On-line job banks and other Knowledge Age technologies are becoming essential elements in the job-seeker’s repertoire. The How, What, When and Why of their use will be explained and used in this workshop. The "Hidden Job Market" will be explored by searching employer databases in various formats. Participants will get hands-on experience using on-line services, CD ROMs, and computer diskettes to find local, national and international employment opportunities.

CWS 6

SELF ESTEEM, SELF CONFIDENCE AND SUCCESS IN YOUR JOB SEARCH

We are living in one of the most stressful times in modern history. Emerging technologies, changing markets, and the current trend toward downsizing have created an atmosphere of worry and apprehension. The loss of one’s job, or the threat of job loss add immeasurably to the stresses of everyday life and take a toll on a person’s self esteem. This workshop will explore the nature of stress, how we experience it, and how we can deal with it to regain a sense of control, purpose and direction: to approach the challenges of a vigorous job search with poise, confidence and a sense of well-being.
