Summer Youth Employment Program

I. Eligibility
1. Enrolled in high school
2. Resident of the Town of Hempstead/City of Long Beach
3. Age 16 through 21;
4. Low income, as defined in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Sec. 101 (25); and
5. Within one or more of the following categories:
      (A) Deficient in basic literacy skills;
      (B) Homeless, runaway, or foster child;
      (C) Pregnant or parenting;
      (D) Offender; or
      (E) An individual (including a youth with a disability) who requires additional assistance to complete an education program, or to secure and hold employment.

II. Service Providers
Services to participants are provided by local education agencies (LEAs)/school districts or their authorized designees.  Applicants who are interested in participating should contact the representative listed for their local district, using the contact information below.
