Who Can Apply?

YEP is open to youth who:

Reside in the Town of Hempstead or City of Long Beach;
Are 16-20 years old;
Eligible to work in the U.S.; and
Are presently:
- Receiving, or is a member of a family receiving cash welfare or receives an income that does not exceed 200% of the federal income poverty guidelines (for more information, please see here for guidelines.)
- Homeless; or
- A foster child

Based on your responses, it appears like you may be eligible for the Summer Youth Employment Program. Please follow instructions below to proceed with the application process.

Download the SYEP Application here. Once completed, please bring with you the SYEP Application and the following documents to our office Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm:

A Copy of your Birth Certificate or Alien Registration Card
A copy of your Social Security Card
Photo ID, Driver's License or Non-Driver ID card
Working papers
Proof of disability, if applicable
Proof of income (for more information, please refer to TANF Poverty Guidelines here)

Please note:

Youth who are under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at the time of submitting the SYEP Application.
If you are found eligible for the program, you will have to get a physical examination and pass a drug test.
